An international applicant is an applicant who does not hold permanent resident, Canadian Citizen or landed immigrant status in Canada. International applicants applying to full-time programs require a Study Permit to study in Canada. Applicants in Canada on a work permit or student visa are also considered as international applicants. If you are an international applicant, contact the International Department.
An internationally educated applicant is a domestic applicant with international education.
In addition to program-specific admission requirements, there are two documents required for applicants with international education: a credential assessment, and proof of English language proficiency. Only an original or certified copy will be accepted. These documents are due by the application document deadline. For more information about each service, please consult directly with the contact information provided.
All students must have the full academic equivalent of the individual program admission requirements. A credential assessment is used to verify that your credentials are valid and equal to a credential completed in Canada.
Applicants with a foreign diploma, degree, certificate (or other proof of credential) applying to any of Michener’s full-time or part-time programs must have their transcripts evaluated to Canadian standards by a Course By Course or Comprehensive evaluation from an accepted credential assessment service. A document-to-document evaluation is not sufficient. If you do not submit this evaluation when you apply, your application is incomplete. If you are only submitting a Canadian educational credential, you do not need to do this.
Accepted Credential Assessments
Michener does not have an credential assessment service, but accepts assessments from either:
|Service||International Credential Assessment Service (ICAS)||World Education Services (WES)|
|Accepted for||Secondary & Postsecondary transcripts||University transcripts|
|Assessment Type||Comprehensive evaluation||Course by Course evaluation|
$130 (either secondary or postsecondary)

|Notes||ICAS is recommended for those applying to programs that require a high school transcript.||WES does not offer a course by course evaluation at the secondary school level.|
Other credential services may also be accepted. Please contact the Office of the Registrar and Student Enrolment before using any other Credential Assessment Service.
IF YOU ARE APPLYING TO MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE AND/OR RESPIRATORY THERAPY
If you are applying to the Medical Laboratory Science and/or Respiratory Therapy programs, a credential assessment of your high school transcript in the form of an ICAS Secondary School Comprehensive Report is required. For more information, please see admission requirements.
IF YOU ATTENDED AN INSTITUTION THAT IS NOW CLOSED AND AN ASSESSMENT CANNOT BE COMPLETED
If the school(s) you attended is no longer in existence, or if it is impossible to obtain official documents from any school(s), you should ask the Ministry of Education in the country in which the credential was awarded to furnish an official statement testifying to the impossibility of obtaining records. The Ministry should also be requested to supply The Michener Institute with a list of courses taken and grades received by the applicant in that school or university
