This workshop provides the opportunity to acquire hands-on technical skills in diagnostic mycology with practical microscopic observation of diagnostic fungal features.
Technologists who want an introduction to this expanding discipline. Designed for those actively practicing as well as those re-entering the workplace. Technicians will also find it useful to learn the techniques employed in preparation of various specimen types.
You will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of this workshop.
• Various fungal specimen types and their processing
• KOH (potassium hydroxide) preparations and various media types, slide cultures, LPCB (lactoppenol cotton blue) preparations
• Identification of fungal agents such as dermatophytes, black molds, hyaline molds, dimorphic molds, zygomycetes, and yeasts
