Michener celebrates the Class of 2015
On Saturday, June 27, the Michener community came together to honour the Class of 2015, recognizing all the hard work that led them to graduation and celebrating the passion and curiosity that will guide them throughout their careers.
“Curiosity presents us with challenges,” noted Dr. Roberta Bondar, keynote speaker at Michener’s Convocation. “If we are curious about things, it presents us with opportunities to change ourselves and our professions.”
Michener was honoured to have Dr. Bondar, the world’s first neurologist in space, deliver the convocation address. Dr. Bondar is an Officer of the Order of Canada; has been appointed to the Order of Ontario; was inducted into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame; has received 25 Honorary Doctorates from North American universities and has her own star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. Her passion for health care education and remarkable accomplishments was unquestionably inspiring for our students.
“You want to be proud of what you have taken away from Michener,” she remarked to the graduating class. “You want to be proud of the people who have come before you and come after you. You want to participate in the goodness of what you have learned. You want to keep that level of excellence the way it is today.”
“Be confident in your abilities and allow yourself to flourish as you take this new step,” added Valedictorian Elizabeth Pickles in her address to fellow graduates. “I dare you to push your limits, accept challenges, discover your passion and explore your talents.”
Having celebrated the Class of 2015 with graduates’ family and friends at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, we not only recognize the hard work of students, but also the support they received from their parents, partners, friends and family.
Congratulations to the Class of 2015 – Michener is proud to be part of your journey.
