Duties

Nature and Scope of Position:
Gateway Community Health Centre (GCHC), on behalf of the Rural Hastings Health Link, is seeking a part-time Chiropodist to serve our clients. This position will require working with Gateway Community Health Centre (Tweed), Central Hastings Family Health Team (Madoc and Marmora), North Hastings Family Health Team (Bancroft), and the Bancroft Family Health Team (Bancroft). The position will be employed by Gateway Community Health Centre. As part of the interprofessional team, the Chiropodist will provide a range of foot care services to clients with a chronic disease (i.e. diabetes), including assessment and treatment of pathological foot conditions.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Clinical Services
•Conduct foot health assessments, identify priorities for treatment and in collaboration with the Primary Care Team, develop treatment plans
•Review and maintain pertinent client information to ensure complete and accurate chiropody record within the Electronic Medical Record

Education and Health Promotion
•Provide foot health education to clients and health care professionals to promote patient health and disease prevention

Quality Improvement
•Participate in the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of chiropody services to ensure success of the program

Requirements

Qualifications
•Diploma of Chiropody from a recognized institution
•Current registration with the Ontario College of Chiropodists of Ontario required
•Three to five years experience in patient assessment and treatment
•Valid Ontario driver’s license, insurance and access to a vehicle
•Demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team of health care professionals
•Demonstrated commitment to taking a leadership role in health promotion and disease prevention and management
•Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal/communication skills
•Experience using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
