Medical Radiation Technologist

Under general supervision, provides radiologic imaging services for undergraduate and graduate students, outside referrals, and faculty as part of patient care and for research purposes. Performs various related duties in oral and maxillofacial radiology that may include image acquisition and acquisition-related services, and image quality control to comply with the Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics and best practice guidelines of the CMRTO.. Follows through with proper protocols for infection control in all aspects of clinical imaging. Provides administrative services as directed for patients, both in person and on the telephone. Accesses and enters data on the Clinic Management system in order to retrieve patient information, enter fees and book appointments. Assists in special assignments and other duties in the Faculty that are related to imaging.

(65%) Provides intra-oral, extra-oral and cone beam CT imaging services for undergraduate, graduate and other Faculty patients, and for research purposes as a medical radiation technologist. Must evaluate the diagnostic quality of the image and take corrective measures as required. Practice within the Standards of Practice of the authorized regulatory body and follow the best practices of the profession. Has responsibility for patient safety and comfort during any procedure.

(20%) Shares with colleagues in the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology clinic quality assurance of all units to comply with the with the Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics and best practice guidelines of the CMRTO , including updating of all daily log entries. Reviews proposed orders with the clinic team leader, if necessary. Follows through with proper infection control in all aspects of clinical work and shares responsibility for the sterilization of equipment and replenishing all supplies and consumables to clinic area.

(10%) Checks critically all images taken by self for quality control. Enters data into computerized patient record management systems (Axium) in order to retrieve patient information, book appointments, check on whereabouts of charts and fee payments. Provides administrative office assistance as directed for patients, both in person and on the telephone (e.g booking, confirming, etc.)

(5%) Other Faculty business related duties.


Graduation from an accredited three (3)-year medical radiation technology program or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current registration and license with the CMRTO (College of Medical Radiation Technologist of Ontario). Must also have current CPR.

A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a medical imaging department. Experience with intra-oral and extra-oral imaging in dentistry is an asset.

Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, Word, and Axium. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, and effective problem solving skills. Must be able to work independently and part of a team.

Proven ability to produce high quality images for diagnostic purposes. Ability to work independently in close association with others and to collaborate as part of a team. Must be patient, compassionate, self-critical, and detail oriented.

Start Date



14 hours per week: 2 weekdays (Monday & Wednesday)


$28 - $30 per hour
