The Radiation Treatment Program at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre / Odette Cancer Centre (OCC) in Toronto has opening for 2 part-time linac machine warm-up student positions for immediate hire. The OCC is a comprehensive cancer centre and the sixth largest cancer program in North America. The OCC provides outstanding patient care and excellence in both academic research and teaching. The centre treats about 6,500 new patients per year. The radiation program has 12 Elekta linear accelerators, 1 MRI-Linac, 1 Gamma Knife, a dedicated brachytherapy suite that houses extensive HDR and LDR programs treating GYN, breast, GU, and skin cancers, and 1 orthovoltage unit. Simulation and planning equipment include 3 wide-bore Philips CT simulators, 1 Philips PET/CT simulator, a 1.5T Philips MR-RT simulator, and a 3T Philips MR simulator, Pinnacle, MIMvista, Oncentra, Variseed, Ergo, GammaPlan, and Monaco TPSs. Mosaiq is the R&V system in-use.

The main duty is to carry out a linac machine warm-up and quality assurance activities in the morning, for 2 hours, before the clinical treatments begin. Full training provided by the clinical experts and will be under full supervision each morning. This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience with clinical linear accelerators and to interact and gain familiarity of working in a collegial radiation therapy environment. Acquaintances with the radiation treatment professionals is also a plus.
An enrolled radiation therapist student at the Michener Institute.
Reliable transportation is a must.
2 hours a day (6:30-8:30am), 10 hours per week, M-F
$14/hr + benefits
