Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers specific province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Genomics (Molecular Diagnostics), Health Sciences Center, Winnipeg, MB


• Triages, accessions, and labels all specimens ensuring proper information on sample and requisition
• Aliquots samples and ensures proper transfer and storage
• Performs tests in electrocardiography (ECG), if applicable
• Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of the Delphic/Sysmex or other (LIS) computer system in order to perform all laboratory procedures
• Prepares and sends samples to other facilities for testing as required
• Performs phlebotomies according to departmental policy
• Performs and reports results according to written protocols or as directed by the supervisor
• Answers telephone and reports test results according to departmental protocols
• Evaluates QC and test results and acts accordingly; proceeds with any corrective procedures or further investigation within the scope of their position
• Prepares calibrators, controls, reagents and chemical solutions
• Calibrates and ensures analyzer is within control
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots and makes minor repairs on equipment as directed by supervisor
• Participates in the evaluation of new procedures or in research projects
• Maintains adequate supplies and reports shortages to supervisor
• Assists in bench training of medical laboratory technology students, new employees and other staff or students
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area
• Maintains orderly records of all work performed
• Participates in laboratory meetings, committees and continuing education programs
• Observes all lab policies, procedures, safety and health regulations and safe work practices


• Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology program with attained certification by the CSMLS
• Successful completion of the CSMLS Prior Learning Assessment process for a discipline specialty, as deemed by the Employer may also be considered
• Current licensing (or qualified to be licensed) with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) required.

Current registration with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) preferred.
