Duties
Your responsibilities will include:
Overseeing day-to-day operational needs for the MRI Lab/workshops. Coordinating and performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures for research studies.
Planning and implementing workflow for a group. Implementing plans and process improvements for the MRI workshop activities. Assessing needs and contributing to the development of operational plans for the MRI facilities. Coordinating and scheduling study patients and providing detailed study information to patients.
Providing detailed explanations and demonstrating procedures to students and/or employees on experiment set ups and lab techniques. Disseminating information regarding policies and guidelines to facilities users.
Analyzing and recommending options for project design. Determining technical requirements for fabrication projects. Analyzing and recommending suitable materials and methods of approaching fabrication and/or lab work.
Analyzing applicable installation methods for apparatus and devices. Troubleshooting routine equipment repairs. Overseeing and coordinating the installation and implementation of new equipment.
Conducting and modifying experimental processes and implementing more efficient ways to conduct experiments. Setting up lab/workshops according to research and/or course schedules. Writing and editing design, training, and standard operating procedure documents.
Providing safety training and ensuring adherence to safety procedures and standards. Applying established standards when administering biological and/or medical imaging.
Planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects. Monitoring accounts for a project and/or program. Liaising with all stakeholders to ensure budget, deadlines, standards, and scope are met. Scheduling and assigning work to a small group in a limited area.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Completion of the MRI National Certification Examination conducted by CAMRT or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologist of Ontario (CMRTO) and Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) membership. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program, level II: Basic Rescuer certification.
Minimum five years of recent and related experience in overseeing the operations of a MRI lab/workshop.
Experience operating a magnetic resonance imaging system and its peripheral equipment, and experience using advanced pulse sequences.
Experience in coordinating and scheduling study patients and providing detailed study information to patients.
Experience implementing plans and process improvements for the MRI workshop activities.
Experience conducting and modifying experimental processes and implementing more efficient ways to conduct experiments.
Experience providing safety training and ensuring adherence to safety procedures and standards. Experience applying established standards when administering biological and/or medical imaging.
Experience planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects and monitoring accounts for a project and/or program.
Experience planning the workflow of a group.
Experience with overseeing and troubleshooting scanner and peripheral equipment. Experience of peripheral equipment’s technical procedures and applications, and knowledge of MRI research basics.
Thorough knowledge of the practice of MRI procedures and quality assurance. Experience applying established standards when cleaning, sanitizing and/or sterilizing facilities.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, Access) and experience with an online scheduling system.
Strong interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities. Able to take the lead and show initiative.
Thorough understanding of participant key safety issues e.g. adverse events, incidents and risks and ability to recognize hazardous situations and take appropriate action.
Ability to work effectively independently and as a team member.
Ability to work professionally and accurately under stressful conditions.
