Position Summary
Medical Lab Technologist (MLT II) Additional Procedures opportunity is available now at the Kelowna General Hospital (KGH). This is a permanent full-time position requiring two years of recent related experience, including one year of recent experience in fungal culture and dermatophyte identification. Days of work are 08:00-16:00 Monday to Friday with weekends and stat days off.

What will you work on:

As an MLT II you will work in a team-based environment and perform additional procedures for the assigned area(s) of the Laboratory (such as Ova & Parasites, Mycoplasma Cultures, Mycology, etc.) as well as a variety of routine and/or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments within the laboratory.

This position is also responsible for functions such as, collecting and/or receiving specimens, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and related computer systems/programs, validating and reporting test results, maintaining instruments and preparing solutions and control agents in accordance with established procedures and safety standards. Participates in departmental training programs with a view to on-going learning of new/existing tests and procedures for use in the Laboratory. Provides input to Operations by participating in the development of laboratory guidelines and procedures; research and continuous quality improvement initiatives for the department.

Requirements

Qualifications
• Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program and current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
• Eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
• Two (2) years recent related experience including one (1) year of recent experience in the assigned additional procedures area(s) of the Laboratory particularly Fungal Culture and Dermatophyte identification
