The Organization:Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is the leading health care provider on the western James Bay coast. WAHA comprises of hospitals in Moose Factory, Fort Albany, and Attawapiskat, with a Health Centre in Moosonee. WAHA also provides regional outpatient programs, as well as Paramedicine services in Moose Factory, Moosonee, Fort Albany, Kashechewan, Attawapiskat, and Peawanuck. Duties

Position Profile Requirements:
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills in both written and verbal format, in a multidisciplinary capacity with medical and non-medical personnel
• To contribute to the effective operation of the laboratory
• To function as a part of a team and work independently
• To remain calm, focused, able to make quick judgements and decisions when involved in emergency situations
• To operate lab instrumentation to analyze and interpret results
• To operate computers
• To recognize atypical results and initiate appropriate action
• To multitask and prioritize large volumes of work in a timely and efficient manner
• To manipulate small samples and repair on delicate instruments
• To adapt to new technologies in a dynamic and challenging professional environment

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

• Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized College or University
• Must be CMLTO registered and in good standing
• Must be certified with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Sciences
• Experience in a general lab setting is an asset
• New grads welcome to apply
• English is essential for this position
