As the research institute of St. Joseph's Health Care, London and London Health Sciences Centre, and working in partnership with Western University, Lawson is committed to furthering scientific knowledge to advance health care around the world.Lawson is seeking a MRI Technologist for its PET/MRI hybrid molecular imaging program – home to Canada’s first hybrid PET/MRI(3T) scanner. This is a tremendous opportunity for professional growth. You will work alongside the senior PET/MRI technologist and be part of an interdisciplinary team that includes biomedical physicists, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, physicians, radiochemists, registered nurses, veterinary technicians, and research coordinators. You will be performing MRI and PET/MRI studies in clinical trials and academic research studying various body systems and disease states. Publications resulting from these studies may be first in Canada or first in world.

Additional responsibilities/duties will be to:
 Administer PET radiopharmaceuticals, inject contrast and insert IVs
 Apply radiation safety principles to protect patients, staff, and the general public
 Maintain a safe working environment by applying the principles of MRI Safety at all times
 Share duties of coordinating the scheduling of MRI and PET/MRI bookings
 Perform ongoing quality assurance of PET/MRI scanner and ancillary equipment
 Use your critical thinking skills, professionalism, and ethical judgement
 Help develop and optimize PET/MRI protocols in consultation with clinicians, scientists, and published literature
 Operate, troubleshoot and ensure PET/MRI scanner and ancillary equipment are performing in an effective and efficient manner;
 Provide optimum patient care and demonstrates a professional manner in the work setting.
 Attendance at research meetings as required
 Other duties as required


Required Qualifications:
 Current MRT (MR) registration in good standing with CMRITO in the specialty of Magnetic Resonance
 Successful completion of an accredited program in Medical Radiation Technology (B.Sc. or diploma program)
 CPR and/or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program certification
 Proof of Professional Liability Insurance
 Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA

Preferred Qualifications:
 Dual certification via current MRT (NM) registration in good standing with CMRITO in the specialty of Nuclear Medicine is considered an asset. Through on-site training, course work, and certificate programs, the successful candidate will be expected to gain the education, experience, skills, and judgement, to perform hybrid PET/MRI procedures safely and correctly.
 Current registration with CAMRT and OAMRS preferred
 Minimum of 3 years of clinical and/or research MRI experience is preferred
 Competency in injecting contrast and inserting IVs
 3 Tesla MRI experience, experience working with a Siemens 3T or other research grade magnet
 Demonstrated drive to maintain education and keep current on future trends in PET and MRI
 Ability to make decisions, problem solve and take initiative
 Effective time management skills, ability to organize work and set priorities
 Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal/written) skills
 Strong commitment to customer service
 Proficiency in French would be an asset

Start Date



Primary work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30. However, on occasion, may be required to work a flexible schedule (evenings, weekends)
