The Centre for Functional and Metabolic Mapping (CFMM) at Western University is seeking a dedicated and talented individual to join our team as a Research MRI Technologist.

This full-time, continuing position offers an exciting blend of clinical and academic research responsibilities. As a Research MRI Technologist, you will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and execution of research protocols using our advanced MRI systems. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, physicians, and scientists to conduct studies that push the boundaries of our understanding of normal development and healthy aging across the lifespan; as well as establishing understanding in the disease process, early detection, and unique biomarkers.

We are seeking an individual with great people skills and a keen interest in the technology of MRI, imaging protocols, as well as safe and ethical applications to research. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing and troubleshooting MRI systems, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct MRI studies following Research Ethics Board (REB) guidelines
• Perform safety screening of volunteers for MRI contraindications
• Ensure safety of subjects, staff, students, and volunteers
• Ensure privacy and confidentiality of research subjects and volunteers
• Coordinate MRI schedules
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on the design and execution of research protocols
• Enforce policy and procedures
• Perform equipment inspections, quality assurance and identify operational issues to the MRI platforms and peripheral devices
• Conduct analysis and resolve scheduling issues and equipment malfunction utilizing judgement and professional knowledge
• Assist with website, social media and communications for CFMM marketing

Requirements

Requirements
• Magnetic Resonance Imaging Program Advanced Certificate
• Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) / College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) certification; Certified MRT (MR)
• Certification in IV injections
• 2 years of practical experience (such as during education) as a certified and registered MRI Technologist
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong knowledge of MRI physics, imaging protocols, and safety procedures
• Prior experience with Siemens MRI is preferred
• Ability to flex working hours when required
