Technical Laboratory Manager – Genomics
Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Shared Health is recruiting for the permanent full-time position of Technical Laboratory Manager for Shared Health’s Genomics Program. This position will be based at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
As a key member of Shared Health’s leadership team, the Technical Laboratory Manager - Genomics provides technical leadership and operational management for Shared Health’s growing Genomics Discipline, which incorporates Genome Sequencing, Molecular Diagnostics, Cytogenetics, and other related services. This individual is a member of the Provincial Genomics Leadership Team responsible for implementing the Manitoba Genomics / Precision Medicine Strategy in collaboration with our clinical and research partners. Effective leadership skills; comfort working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment; and an affinity for relationship building amongst diverse stakeholders are critical competencies for individuals interested in this exciting role. Demonstrated experience leading the delivery of quality laboratory services in a safe, effective, efficient and sustainable manner is fundamental.
Educational requirements include an Undergraduate science degree or advanced RT certification in a related discipline. Formal education in business management is preferred. Completion of a recognized post-secondary program in health care management is an asset. Candidates require a minimum of five years of technical experience, along with five years of leadership experience working in a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. Registration as a Clinical Genetics Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technologist is an asset.
