Position Summary
Interior Health’s Laboratory team is currently seeking a Technical Specialist, Anatomical Pathology based at our tertiary hospital lab sites in either Kelowna or Kamloops, B.C. If you are an experienced, adaptable and innovative Medical Laboratory Technologist who possesses strong leadership capability and has advanced training and skills in this discipline; then we would love to chat with you about this rewarding position.
The Technical Specialist for this area works in a team based environment and is accountable for the development, implementation and maintenance of practice standards for the designated discipline. Acting as a Clinical Resource to laboratory staff you will provide leadership, direction and guidance on practice activities and advancing practice, research and education.
Key responsibilities include:
• Reviewing and implementing consistent practice standards, goals and objectives in conjunction with designated management and leading the development and standardization of discipline specific policies and procedures, continuing education and training programs.
• Monitoring existing procedures and equipment and develops new methods as appropriate ensuring best practice standards are implemented and communicated throughout the IH Laboratories.
• Supporting departmental and regional initiatives through collaboration with local and regional laboratory leaders and managers, pathologists and physicians to achieve overall goals and objectives.
This is a permanent full-time position. Days of work are rotating and hours of work are 08:00-16:00. The position may be located at the Kelowna General Hospital or the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. Requirements
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited Medical Laboratory Science training program with current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
Completion of recognized advanced specialty program/training in the designated discipline
5 years’ recent related experience, including 3 years leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Valid BC Drivers license required
Quality Management Certification would be considered an asset
