Georgian Bay General Hospital is a 105-bed hospital with sites located in the municipalities of Midland and Penetanguishene. We are located in historic Huronia on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay, just 90 minutes north of Toronto. Georgian Bay General Hospital serves a population base of 55,000, swelling to more than 200,000 for six months of the year. At our Midland site, services include 24-hour emergency department, inpatient medicine, obstetrics, general surgery, outpatient day surgery, diagnostic imaging (radiology, ultrasound, and CT scan), pharmacy, respiratory therapy, in-patient physiotherapy, ambulatory care, a 36-bed Complex Continuing Care and Rehabilitation Unit serving patients from North Simcoe and Muskoka. Our Penetanguishene site is home to a nine-station dialysis unit as well as Hospice Huronia and the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre.


Midland, Ontario


- adjusts ultrasound equipment performance factors to
optimize examination;
- positions and instructs patients for each examination;
prepares and/or administers contrast media as required;
ensures all aspects of patient safety including attention to
radiation and infection hazards - assists in performing first a
aid as necessary;
- liaise with the radiologist for ultrasound examinations;
may be required to assist with diagnostic radiological
- produces images mechanically and/or digitally to include:
general processing;
 film duplication;
 digital film storage, retrieval and distribution.
- Performs support functions in all areas such as:
changing, routing, instructing and educating patients as
- practising universal precautions by maintaining personal,
instrumentation and departmental cleanliness;
assisting with patient care tasks such as linen changing,
personal hygiene, turning and positioning, etc. as
- maintaining appropriate levels of supplies;
participates in departmental quality assurance activities;
performing minor repairs to equipment, as required.
- Performs departmental clerical tasks as required – such as:

 coordinating appointments;
 answering the telephone;
 obtaining and recording demographic / clinical
 preparing and maintaining records and files;


Qualifications & Experience:

Required Skills:
o completion of formal ultrasound training program with certification;
o ARDMS certification;
o proven ability to work independently;
o excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:
o computer skills;
o CPR certification;
o 1 year experience as an ultrasonographer

o fluency in both English & French
