Standard Certificate Virtual Training for Full-time Michener Students (proof required)

At a glance:

This is a 9-hour certificate training program:

  • 2-hour self-directed Module 1
  • 7-hour live (virtual) Module 2 and 3 sessions with an instructor

Why should I take MHFA training?

The course is interactive, engaging and informative and will benefit you both personally and professionally.

The communication skills acquired will enhance your role as a health care professional. You will feel more confident talking to patients, families and colleagues.

Plus, participants receive an internationally recognized certificate of completion from MHFA Canada  . Great for resume building.

What will I learn?

You will learn how to recognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis and encourage that person to:

  • Talk about a decline in their mental well-being
  • Discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental well-being
  • Reach out to these supports
  • Assist in a mental health or substance use crisis
  • Use MHFA actions to maintain one’s own mental well-being

When can I take the training?

Winter 2023 (Reading Week)

SESSION 1

Thursday February 23, 2023 (Module 2 and 3)
9:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Emails will be sent to every student in early February. Registration will be on a first come first served basis. Enrollment is limited to 15 participants.

There is no fee for this training for full-time Michener students.

Summer 2023

How do I register?

    Please email Christina cyurchuk@michener.ca to register.

    Upon registration you will receive:

      • Access information for the self-directed module 1 (2 hours) sent to your Michener email address. Module 1 must be completed before the date of the virtual course or you will have to re-register.
