Hello, Michener alumni. I hope you’re having a great start to 2020. The Alumni Association has already met once since the new year and we are working to bring you the experience you want.
At our first meeting of the year, we were pleased to have two new members join our board as student representatives, Meaghan Stayzer (Rad. Therapy) and Sousna Hanna (Respiratory Therapy). We look forward to having their ideas and enthusiasm energize our efforts. Welcome, Meaghan and Sousna.
During this part of the year, the Michener Student Success Network arranges a series of workshops for students to attend. These workshops are geared toward helping students develop various employment skills such as résumé writing and interview skills. One of the workshops is scheduled for March 10 and coincides with our board meeting. We will be dropping in the session to introduce ourselves and (more importantly) to let them know about the pizza we’re sponsoring for workshop! The workshop series culminates with a career fair, which brings various employers to Michener and gives the students a chance to network with them. We will also be at the entrance of the career fair to welcome the students and provide them with a loot bag to collect their goodies and information.
Looking ahead, Multiple Mini Interviews for prospective students will be held and the end of April. A call for volunteers will be coming later. And beyond that, the Michener convocation will be held in mid-June. As you’ve read in this issue of Alumni News, there will be new ways for alumni to be a part of the celebrations. I will be sure to keep you informed as plans develop.
As always, let us know if you have comments or suggestions at alumni@michener.ca. And, if you haven’t already done so, visit us at the Michener Institute Alumni Facebook group page. We’re anxiously waiting for your stories!
Best regards,
