Happy 2023! On behalf of the Alumni Association, I wish you the best for the year.
We held our AGM in January and said goodbye to board members Michelle Lau, Judy Tran, and Eliza Ung. We thank them for their contribution and dedication to the alumni association board over the years. Welcome Jia Inacio, our newest board member, and stay tuned for updated bios on the alumni board website.
February is Black History Month, a time to reflect on the historical and present-day realities within our Black communities, and to educate ourselves so that we can learn and do better. This month honours the legacy and contributions of Black Canadians and their communities.
In this issue, Michener’s new diploma program Fundamentals of Health Care will be explored. It is a way to address the staffing shortage crisis in the health care industry, which many alumni are acutely aware of being on the frontlines. In addition, you will find information on Michener’s quest for candidates for this year’s honorary diploma – exceptional individuals who have made significant contributions in the fields of health care and education.
As always, the Alumni Board is interested in acknowledging and celebrating our alumni, and we are planning an in-person alumni event this fall. Please share your ideas by connecting with us at communications@michener.ca.
Cheers,
