The Echo Technologist is responsible for processing and testing patients for echocardiogram, doppler, TEE, Stress Echo, Contrast Echo and Paediatric Echo testing

Duties

- Efficiently and professionally perform the Echo/Dopplers, , Stress Echo, Contrast Echo and Paediatric Echo studies and process patients at the appointed times.
- Possess the knowledge to interpret echocardiogram and document preliminary findings.
- Assist the cardiologist with TEEs
- Participate in weekly interpretation rounds when possible.
- Ensure that tests are reported, distributed and filled promptly.
- Ensure that regular preventative maintenance on all equipment is performed and documented
according to schedule.
- Participate in the quality assurance and risk management program.
- Commitment to the health andsafety, emergency and personnel policies.
- Participates in the review and revisions of the departmental manual annually.
- To operate the Echo Lab with minimal supervision being accountable and responsible, and recognizing the important role of good public relations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

- 2 years full-time echocardiography lab experience.
- Good knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and electrocardiography.
- Experience with Trans-esophageal Echo, Exercise Echo and Pediatrics (preferred).
- Sound decision making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work well independently and in an interdisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated excellence in providing patient focused care.
- Demonstrated commitment to on-going learning.
- Professional and cooperative; mature, reliable, and responsible.
- Proficient computer skills required.
- Good work and attendance record required.
