Duties
Reporting to the Coordinator, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the Genetics Analysis Specialist. The Genetics Analysis Specialist (GAS) plays a key role in the routine clinical service by performing review, interpretation, analysis, and draft reporting of cancer biomarkers. This position works closely with a dynamic team of pathologist physicians to support high-quality diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and interpret cancer biomarker data and prepare draft reports.
Monitor relevant scientific literature and update standard operating procedures as needed.
Contribute to the development of image analysis tools and new testing methodologies.
Support the implementation of emerging technologies within the department.
Collaborate with pathologists, pathology residents, pathology assistant students, and graduate students to support academic and educational activities.

Requirements
Successful Completion of, or proof of enrollment in, a master's degree in biology, Pathology, Bioinformatics, Medical Biophysics or a related field
Preferred one (1) year of previous related job experience
Demonstrated advanced experience working with digital pathology data in research or clinical setting
Demonstrated advanced experience in research related to experience with biomarkers and analysis for use of results in clinical setting
Demonstrated advanced experience with writing and editing scientific materials for external audiences
Expertise with data management (including scientific and/or medical data)
Demonstrated advanced written and verbal communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills
Previous experience working with computer driven analytical equipment and analytical software
Demonstrated focus on quality and safety as well as commitment to continuous improvement
Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose and Values
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
