Duties

What you’ll do

Lead Daily Operations: Be the heartbeat of the lab by overseeing day-to-day operations – from managing workflows and staff schedules to troubleshooting and ensuring seamless service delivery
Empower Your Team: Guide and mentor a small but mighty team of less than 20 professionals, including Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs), Medical Lab Assistants (MLAs), and clerks. You'll foster a collaborative environment where everyone can thrive.
Drive Quality and Compliance: Ensure every procedure meets the highest standards of patient care. You'll work closely with Medical Leads and the Operations Manager to maintain accreditation and safety protocols.
Shape the Future: Play a key role in recruitment, onboarding, and staff development. You'll help shape the next generation of lab professionals by sharing your knowledge and supporting career growth.
Manage Resources: Oversee procurement and inventory to ensure your team has the tools and supplies they need to deliver top-quality care
Engage with the Community: Be a visible and approachable leader who values community relationships and patient-centered care. You’ll make a real difference both inside and outside the lab.

Requirements

What you bring

Certified Expertise: Certification by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
Proven Leadership: A Bachelor of Science degree or an Advanced Registered Certificate, or completion of a supervisory/management program, with a minimum of five (5) years of recent related experience, including three (3) years in a supervisory role. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Relatable experience: working as an Medical Lab Technologist with extended leadership experience, Previous experience working as a Lab Site Supervisor or Medical Laboratory Supervisor

Technical Excellence: Your deep knowledge of core lab functions, equipment maintenance, and compliance standards makes you a trusted expert in the field.
Valid Driver's License: A valid BC driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for business-related travel.

As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).

Wage: $42.75 - $53.36 / Hour
