Duties

The Manager, Medical Imaging, is an integral member of the Management Team at Women’s College Hospital and is responsible for the management and accountability of modality and site level operations and the execution of departmental and hospital strategy. Reporting directly to the Director, Medical Imaging, the principal responsibilities of this position are ongoing site level and/or imaging modality operational management; leading the implementation of certain strategic programs; monitoring the external environment; managing human resources, budgeting/financial management responsibilities; performing administrative responsibilities; and performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required. The Manager, Medical Imaging provides input into departmental and divisional strategic planning processes and facilitates implementation of goals and plans. The incumbent supports the department in its mandate of patient care, education and research.

Job Description

Summary of Duties, but not limited to:

Undertakes Operational Management Planning and Activities:

Develops and manages resources planning (capital and operating) requirements and identifies initiatives or actions necessary to execute departmental/divisional plans.
Takes responsibility for incident management, supervising appropriate responses, and escalating incidents as necessary.
Ensures efficient and consistent service delivery for site, including effective utilization of resources (e.g., staffing and equipment).
Liaises with other hospital departments and sites to ensure coordination of JDMI site specific projects.
Participates in hospital activities and projects as necessary.
Manages Departmental and Divisional Strategic Priorities at Multiple Sites/Hospitals:

Assumes responsibility for the planning and implementation of assigned divisional and departmental projects.
Coordinates project plans with other Managers, Supervisors and clinical staff within the department and division to ensure successful project completion.
Ensures that project goals and objectives meet overall JDMI and WCH strategic priorities.
Performs Quality Management Responsibilities:

Manages the development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of quality improvement initiatives which are in alignment with established WCH standards. 
Monitors quality improvement outcomes on a regular basis; develops action plans to address identified issues.
Coaches staff to ensure that continuous quality improvement initiatives are incorporated into day-to-day activities
Establishes and ensures adherence to policy and procedures.
Provides input into modality and departmental quality standards and framework.
Keeps abreast of quality indicators and reports Quality issues to the Director, Medical Imaging.
Develops the annual operational budget (in collaboration with Site and/or Divisional Heads and Modality Supervisors as necessary) and incorporating the strategic plan and resource strategy.
Team Leadership and Development:

Oversee all aspects of Human Resources management, including recruitment, orientation, and performance management.
Establishes clear performance expectations, provides coaching and mentorship, and fosters a positive, collaborative work environment.
Supports team building and leadership development to enhance staff engagement and professional growth.
Must be familiar with working in a unionized environment.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Successful completion of an Undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or a related field; Masters’ degree preferred.
Ten (10) years of progressively responsible and related experience required.
Five (5) years recent experience in a managerial or similar leadership role preferred Member in good standing with a regulatory college CMRITO is preferred.
Management/leadership experience involving multidisciplinary Medical Imaging teams, in a unionized environment is preferred.
Medical Imaging background is an asset; hospital experience is preferred.
Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with physicians, inter-professional team members and other stakeholders.
Ability to work with a diverse group of leaders and stakeholders with demonstrated success in moving key stakeholders to positive resolution and to facilitate and coach clinical areas on change initiatives.
Experience in strategic planning, project management, hospital data and reporting are required.
Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners, and employees.
A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards in a diverse workplace
Good work and attendance record required.
Proven attendance and punctuality.
Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
