Stevenson Memorial Hospital (Stevenson) is located in the community of Alliston, in the Town of New Tecumseth, Ontario. Situated one hour north of downtown Toronto, this fully accredited hospital offers 38 inpatient beds and a wide range of outpatient services. Stevenson serves a catchment area that includes Adjala-Tosorontio, Canadian Forces Base Borden, Essa, Innisfil and New Tecumseth. Duties
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs a variety of diagnostic tests on patient specimens with limited supervision and generally accepted laboratory testing in the departments of Biochemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Medicine.
• Analyzes and interprets test results and prepares reports to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease
• Phlebotomy on out-patients/in-patients as required.
• Assesses quality control values and take corrective measures to ensure patient results are accurate and meaningful, recheck grossly abnormal patient results.
• Performs preventative maintenance of equipment.
• Assesses and takes corrective measures for instrument maintenance.
• Performs inventory and orders supplies.
• Prepares and sends out samples to referral laboratories.
• Works with Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) in assigned areas and providing technical expertise when required.
• Supports patient safety culture by ensuring work completed recognizes the safety of the patients.
• Works in a safe manner and promotes health and safety in the workplace.
• Utilizes infection prevention and control best practices.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.
• Adheres to departmental and legislated health and safety standards.
• Communicates issues and concerns to the Charge MLT/Manager.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings.
• Attends and completes hospital/team training.
• Assists in the orientation/preceptorship of new staff members and students.
• Performs other duties consistent with job classification, as required.
Requirements
• Current registration and in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) required.
• Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science Degree as asset.
• Two (2) years’ work experience in clinical laboratory preferred.

$36.84-$50.24 / Hr.

The wage band based on the OPSEU Central Band - Proof of hours letters required in order to move through the pay bands.
