Unit Summary

Diagnostic Services are a vital part of patient care at Hamilton Health Sciences. Our Diagnostic Services teams supports a high volume of diverse adult and pediatric patients and families, providing specialized service within Radiology, CT Scan, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound and Interventional.
Most areas within this unit function 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Our Diagnostic Professionals are essential members of the multidisciplinary health care team, liaising with many other healthcare practitioners to support high-quality patient care.

Position Summary

An important member of a multidisciplinary health care team, the MRI Technologist co-ordinates, performs and evaluates Diagnostic Services examinations within the specific modalities and disciplines. The Technologist guides and directs clinical and technical associates and students in a teaching and research environment and provides patient care within the core values of respect, caring, innovation and accountability. The MRI Technologist may also rotate though other modalities and sites based on qualifications and unit requirements.


• Graduate of an approved training program in Magnetic
Resonance Imaging
• Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging with the
• Current registration with the College of Medical
Radiation Technologist of Ontario
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support registration
• Demonstrated ability to work responsibly in a team
• Demonstrated effective communication, organization
and interpersonal skills
• Effective problem solving skills, critical thinking and the
ability to prioritize in a fast paced clinical environment
• Evidence of participation in on going education &
professional development
• Membership in the CAMRT/OAMRT preferred
