Duties

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and monitor CHEO’s perfusion equipment for cardiopulmonary bypass, ECMO, cell saver and related point-of-care technologies

Administer medications and blood products to patients through bypass machines.

Provide on-call coverage to support urgent/emergent surgeries and ECMO initiation/discontinuation

Troubleshooting ECMO circuits and back-up support of ECMO specialists

Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs and physiological functions throughout surgeries to ensure safety.

Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals to provide optimal patient care.

Maintain and manage perfusion equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition.

Prepare and review patients’ medical histories and notes to plan for surgeries.

Perform administrative duties, including equipment management, supply purchasing, and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Certified with the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion and/or American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion

Graduate of an accredited program in Cardiovascular Perfusion Technology

Hands-on clinical experience with pediatric perfusion (preferred)

Familiarity with key CV Surgery databases including PC4 and STS

Demonstrated excellence in communication skills and working in a multidiscipline team environment
