Duties
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill, Experience)
-M.L.T. Must be registered with the C.M.L.T.O.
-3 years recent experience in the following areas: Biochemistry, Hematology and Immunohematology preferred.
-Satisfactory attendance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
-Operates instruments and performs routine testing accurately and with precision.
-Performs venipuncture, and micro-collections as required.
-Operates, maintains all equipment and documents maintenance of all equipment according to stated policy, procedures and schedules.
-Performs troubleshooting of instruments as is necessary.
-Uses laboratory computer for all aspects of the job (entering tests, results, quality control, etc.).
-Sends appropriate patient information as required, (i.e. Faxing, phoning, MOH, Pharmacy, etc.).
-Performs all routine testing promptly in accordance to stated procedures.
-Performs quality control procedures and documents results on a daily basis.
-Orders department supplies (as authorized).
-Prepares reagents, controls, solutions, etc. as required.
-Participates in department continuing education.
-Assists in practical instruction, and supervision of Medical Laboratory Students.
-Prepares method procedures when required.
-Collects and reports data as required including: Workload Measurement Systems (MIS) month end reports, Lab licensing month end reports, Quality Management reports etc. Documents anything unusual in any of these categories.
-Reviews accuracy of all results prior to reporting.
-Responsible for training new staff as required: teaching new instrumentation, procedures, quality control, maintenance, etc.
-Required to aid in instrument and method evaluations.
-Carries out other duties as requested by the Laboratory Manager or Charge Technologist.
