Position Summary

The Medical Imaging department at Kelowna General Hospital is currently seeking a Sonographer to join our team of dedicated professionals. This is a relief position available until March 2023 or the return of the current incumbent. Days of work are rotating and shift times are days and evenings.

Our department is a busy regional department within a tertiary facility and regional trauma centre. KGH is a multi-building campus with Diagnostic Imaging services within several of the buildings. There are five ultrasound rooms in the main department and one room in the Emergency. Ultrasound operates 7 days a week (07:30 to 22:00 hours) with on-call until midnight. This position works rotating day and evening shifts.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures/examinations and related duties working in collaboration with radiologists/cardiologists, physicians and other health care professionals.

Surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery, the thriving City of Kelowna (population approx. 125,000) is situated on the eastern shores of Lake Okanagan in the South Central Region of British Columbia. It is the largest city in the area and boasts all of the amenities of a major centre including fine dining, unique shops and a vibrant arts and culture scene. Wine tours, golfing, skiing, boating, swimming and camping are among the many recreational activities enjoyed by residents here in the Okanagan Valley.

All of our sites are connected through our regional Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) integrated into our single Electronic Health Record providing real-time patient histories anywhere within Interior Health. We have clinical advisory groups that are working together to ensure best practice throughout Interior Health.

• Graduate of a recognized/accredited North American Program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasonography).
• Current certification with Sonography Canada as required for the assigned practice area (such as, Generalist and/or Cardiac) and/or current certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as required for the assigned practice area (such as, Abdomen/Small Parts, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Cardiac, and/or Vascular).
• Eligible for membership with Sonography Canada and/or ARDMS.
