Your proficiency in time management, communication, and problem-solving is fundamental to ensuring efficient coordination of complex tasks. You will have the opportunity to conduct neonatal ultrasounds to support our NICU population, perform specialized bowel ultrasounds for assessing inflammatory bowel disease, and carry out pelvic ultrasounds for endometriosis mapping under the supervision of a radiologist.

About this team
The General and Obstetrical Ultrasound departments offer a cutting-edge setting for clinical practice, teaching, and research programs in ultrasound. Operating around the clock, the main department handles a substantial volume of diverse ultrasound exams, catering to patient populations ranging from the Emergency Department to outpatients and inpatients. The general ultrasound department comprises eight exam rooms and two portable units, while the obstetrical ultrasound department boasts 13 exam rooms. On average, we perform approximately 50,000 exams annually.

In this role you will:
• Perform obstetrical/gynecological, abdomen, vascular, small parts and neonatal ultrasound imaging procedures
• Operate, troubleshoot and ensure ultrasound, medical imaging and ancillary equipment are performing in an effective and efficient manner
• Prepare written and electronic reports required to document all procedures and test results
• Participate in teaching, educational, research, safety and quality improvement programs/activities
• Perform cross-functional/site responsibilities as assigned as per departmental needs
• Perform other related patient care responsibilities

Requirements

Job Requirements:

Mandatory
• Completion of an accredited degree/post diploma Ultrasound program, or recognized equivalent preferred.
• Consideration for hire may also be given to applicants currently enrolled in an accredited degree/post diploma Ultrasound program - as a condition of hire the Ultrasound program must be successfully completed within six (6) months of hire
• Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification
• Registered with Sonography Canada with CRGS designation
• Registered with College of Medical Radiation & Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
• 1 year recent related experience
• Demonstrated maintenance of Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits
• Fulfill certification requirements and maintain credentials as required by the department i.e. Nuchal Translucency

Preferred
• Registered with American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (ARDMS) in Abdomen (AB) and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB)
• Experience in the following modalities: vascular, neurosonography and fetal assessment

Skills and Knowledge
• Excellent hand eye co-ordination
• Ability to train in a variety of ultrasound related examinations, procedures, equipment
• Demonstrated excellent critical thinking, decision making and problem solving skills
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively as a team member and work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to work accurately under stressful conditions
• Effective body language and people management skills with the ability to demonstrate sensitivity when dealing with intimate patient contact situations
