Duties

Please note this is a sonographer position in the Ultrasound Department of Medical Imaging.

The Sonographer scans patients and reviews images with medical staff; participates in clinical teaching activities; performs documentation of the examination; and demonstrates a commitment to direct patient care and professional practice. Duties will consist of, but not be limited to:

• Provide exceptional patient care in a variety of clinical cases
• Able to acquire diagnostic images and document sonographic impressions to be discussed with the clinician for interpretation
• Liaise with the radiologists, fellows and residents.
• Perform ultrasounds on a variety of clinical cases which include Pediatric neuro, musculoskeletal, abdominal
• Maintaining accurate computer and image records with all relevant and required patient and exam information
• Trouble shooting and ensuring that medical imaging and ancillary equipment are performing in an effective and efficient manner
• Keep abreast of current trends and new developments in Medical Imaging
• Will be required to participate in all shift rotations and on call coverage.
• May also be required to participate in teaching students
• Any other duties as required

Requirements

• Criminal Record Check (Essential)
• 3 years pediatric radiography experience (Preferred)
• CMRITO (Essential)
• Sonography Canada current registration (Preferred)
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification (Essential)
• Computer literacy (Essential)
• Effective time management skills; ability to organize work and set priorities (Essential)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Essential)
• Ability to work effectively as a team member, as well as work as an autonomous professional (Essential)
• Ability to work accurately under stressful conditions, to be patient and family focused with customer service
orientation (Essential)
• Available to work on call/stand by/week-end/holidays as required (Essential)
