Position Summary

Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) has an immediate permanent, full time Staff Anesthesia Assistant opening.

Schedule is rotating Days/Evenings/Nights. On-call is associated with this position.

Staff Anesthesia Assistants play a crucial part in performing technical duties related to anesthesia such as testing, preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies. Operating within a client-centered approach and as an essential member of our interdisciplinary team, you make a substantial contribution to assisting Anesthesiologists with the induction, maintenance and recovery phases of anesthesia.

KGH is a tertiary hospital offering a full range of services with 472-inpatient beds and over 78,000 ED visits yearly. Adjacent to KGH is home to the brand new Interior Heart & Surgical Centre (IHSC) which opened in 2015 and is BC’s only cardiac critical care centre outside of Victoria and the Lower Mainland.

IHSC is KGH’s principal surgical site and features 12 specialized Operating Rooms created for Thoracic, Urology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Plastics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ears Nose and Throat, Orthopedics, General and Trauma surgeries with 2 ORs dedicated to Cardiac Surgery. Our state-of-the-art Centennial Building also recently opened and boasts a total of 360,000 square feet, an expanded emergency and ambulatory care department, modern operating rooms and a rooftop helipad. KGH is also a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program affiliated with UBC.

We are a group of 30 Anaesthesiologists and 11 Staff Anesthesia Assistants providing a full-service tertiary referral service to patients located in a geographical area larger than France. We pride ourselves on being a supportive group who provide the highest quality of care in a complex high acuity environment.

Requirements

Qualifications
• Graduation from a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy.
• Completion of an accredited post-graduate Anesthesia Assistant diploma program.
• Current certification with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT)
• Current certificates in CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• Three years’ recent related experience is an asset.

Salary

$40.53 to $50.50/hr
