Duties

An exciting Full-Time opportunity as a Bone Density Technologist exists within Women's College Hospital Osteoporosis Department!

Summary of Duties, but not limited to:
• Responsible for performing daily Quality Control on the DXA machines as set by departmental standards (SOP)
• Responsible for performing all bone density procedures including spine, hip and forearm. Process same and perform correlative measurements.
• Process all bone density exams performed and ensure current and correct demographic data is on exam and in the electronic record.
• Check technical quality of exam prior to dismissing patient and evaluate necessary criteria for acceptable bone density exam.
• Obtain correct/current clinical history on patients. Check orders and patient identity prior to exam.
• Assist, instruct and educate patient prior to, during and after procedure
• Clean equipment, maintain supplies and exam room on a daily basis. Report all needs and repairs to supervisor in a timely fashion
• Participate in student training as required
• Participate in continuing Education activities for the CMRTO and the ISCD
• Provides excellent patient care, while maintaining confidentiality of patient information
• Ensure a safe environment in the examination rooms

Requirements

• Current Registration and good standing with the College of Medical Radiation Technologist of Ontario (CMRTO: M.R.T.(R)/(N)
• Certified Densitometry Technologist (CDT/CBDT) preferred. For uncertified candidates, must complete ISCD certification program for bone densitometry within one year.
• CAMRT Preferred
• Experience with GE Lunar Densitometers preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal/written) and organization skills
• Communicate with patients, co-workers, providers, and supervisors in a professional manner
• Demonstrate ability to handle stress and conflict management in a profession, effective manner
• Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills
• Demonstrate ability to organize work, set priorities, manage time effectively and take initiative
• Demonstrate ability to work effectively and accurately, both autonomously and as an effective team member
• Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
• This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
