Maria Boyd retires from Michener after 16 years of teaching

After 16 years of teaching in the MRI program, Maria Boyd retired from Michener on December 31. Although this is an exciting next step for Maria, we will miss her passion for teaching and her extensive contribution to the MRI program.

Maria started her role as Professor in the MRI program in 2008 and recently became an instructor for the 1st Discipline program. Maria was also the MRI program clinical liaison officer, directly supporting students in their clinical placements and working closely with clinical coordinators to ensure successful student training. And in 2010, Maria received Michener’s prestigious Crystal Apple Faculty Award.

While teaching at Michener, Maria continued to work as an MRI technologist at both St. Joseph’s Health Centre and Trillium Health Partners. This work kept her professional skills current, which added to her exceptional teaching and strong connection with students.

In 2023, Maria was selected by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) Board of Directors to receive the Outstanding Service Award — an honour that celebrates Maria’s dedication, integrity and commitment to her profession.

Maria is a proud Michener grad from the MRI class of 2002, and she holds a Bachelor’s degree in medical Imaging and a Master’s degree in adult education.

Maria, congratulations once again on this exciting life change. We wish you all the best!
