Celebrating Radiological Technology students at this year’s Marker Ceremony

The Radiological Technology program held its annual Marker Ceremony on January 17 in Schatz Hall. One of Michener’s most special traditions, the ceremony is an opportunity to welcome first-year Radiological Technology students into the field.

“It’s an exciting moment, taking our first steps towards the profession,” says Ashley Agholor, a Radiological Technology student who received her markers at the ceremony

A pair of radiographic markers holds significance in the healthcare field and symbolizes the unique set of knowledge, skills and judgment of an MRT.

“These markers are more than just tools,” says Christina Perris, Director of Professional Services at the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences. “They symbolize the beginning of a student’s journey to becoming a valued regulated health professional.”

This year’s ceremony involved guest speakers from the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences, UHN’s Joint Department of Medical Imaging and a meaningful speech from the patient perspective.

Congratulations to our first-year students on receiving their markers!
