More than 120 incoming students took the opportunity to get to know their new school and classmates better at Orientation 2024. This year’s event was once again a hybrid combination of virtual and in-person events.
Orientation Coordinators Arish Sivaruban and Mendy Ramanand planned all the events and delivered them with a team of upper-year student volunteers. They both found this year’s Orientation exceeded their expectations.
“Orientation was a blast!”, says Arish. “It was so fun meeting all the incoming students, I’m really glad they were also outgoing and willing to try our events.”
Some of the highlights of the week included the Michener Olympics, which drew a massive crowd, and the bridge-building event where students were forced to flex their creative muscles. A trip to The Gambit & Goblet Café, a nearby board game cafe, was also a popular excursion.
“My favorite memory has to be meeting the new students and bonding with the volunteers as we tackled the busy week together,” says Mendy. “It was great to watch students naturally form friendships and get acquainted with the school.”
A special thank you to Arish, Mendy and their volunteers for their hard work to prepare and run Orientation to welcome the newest members of our Michener community. Best of luck to all students, new and returning, over this new academic year.
