Michener faculty, students, donors, staff and guests filled the auditorium this past Wednesday, November 7 for the annual Student Awards Ceremony, honouring Michener’s 2018 scholarship and bursary winners.
The generosity of our donors allows us to present a large number of awards that will support our learners in their studies and in becoming strong health care professionals. During the ceremony, 63 scholarships and bursaries were presented to deserving and remarkable students from all of our programs at Michener.
The evening was a tremendous success with many thanks to the Scholarship and Awards Committee for their diligence in selecting this year’s recipients, the many departments that worked as a team, and whose efforts made this event a success. A special thanks to Karyn Roscoe for leading the event planning and providing our students with a wonderful evening of memories.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to emcee for the evening, Dr. Brian Hodges, who moved the ceremony along with grace and humour. We also heard from Dr. Kevin Smith, President and CEO of UHN, and Cliff Nordal, Chair of the Board of The Michener Institute of Education at UHN, about the importance of nurturing and supporting Michener students in their scholastic careers.
The reception in the newly re-designed lobby included subtle jazz and light refreshments. Friends and family of the students and donors were pleased to connect with each other, as well as reunite with faculty and staff. The floral photo wall proved to be a hit for attendees wanting to capture a snapshot to remember the night.
