Hello fellow Alumni!
Fall is upon us and it has been a busy season with the Alumni Association Board.
We have had two board meeting since the school term started. Ray Nielsen has been instrumental in our ongoing search for student representation within the board. Our student representatives have always been an integral connection for us to stay current with the needs of the Michener community. I look forward to announcing the new board members once they’ve been selected.
The Michener Student Awards were held on November 6th. I was in attendance and honoured to present Mehak Syeda (Respiratory Therapy, class of 2019) with the Michener Alumni Association Scholarship. Congratulations Mehak! I would also like to acknowledge the Scholarship and Awards committee for the hard work they put into reviewing the scholarship applications (many of them from alumni). And a special thanks to Sean McCluskey who serves on this committee on behalf of the Alumni Association Board.
On Saturday, November 16th, Michener will host the annual Open House. Many of us from the Alumni Board plan to attend. It is always a great opportunity for us to connect with prospective students and share our experiences with them. We welcome company, so if you’re enthusiastic about sharing your profession in a casual, open environment, please let us know at alumni@michener.ca.
The Alumni Association Annual General Meeting is coming up on December 17th. During the meeting, I will be recapping the Board events over the last year. We encourage our alumni community to attend, stay current with our activities and provide feedback so that we can better serve you. Please RSVP to alumni@michener.ca if you would like to attend the meeting.
Finally, I would like to remind all alumni that our Facebook group page, Michener Institute Alumni, is live and waiting for you! Join the group, browse and check out what’s going on with your fellow alumni. Feel free to post your stories and photos. We’re really looking forward to your content.
