Working With Seniors: A Primer

With Ontario’s population aging faster than ever before, seniors will soon make up over 50% of the patient population served in our province. Michener, in partnership with Baycrest Health Sciences, has responded by developing this state-of-the-art course.

Working with Seniors is a basic-level course delivered in a flexible online learning format. The course is designed for entry-to-practice health professionals and anyone who will be supporting and serving the health needs of seniors.

Overall Goals

The overall goal of this course is to enable new health professionals, caregivers and others to be competent and comfortable in working with geriatric clients. At the end of this course, participants will have a better understanding of and empathy for the lived experience and needs of seniors in the health care system and the community. They will have and be able to apply the basic knowledge and skills required to work with seniors in a range
of environments.
