Global Learning Opportunities in Health Education
Michener’s International Department develops customized programs which support strategic global health education initiatives aimed at improving the overall state of healthcare.
In collaboration with the Qatar Diabetes Association, Michener has trained many nurses from the public and private sector, as well as clinical dietitians, health educators, pharmacists, and doctors in the Gulf region of Qatar. An estimated one-in-five Qataris are affected by diabetes, and more than half have three-or-more risk factors. This online program is certified by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and is taught by certified Diabetes Educators.
For over 25 years, Michener has been offering a part-time Advanced Diploma in Ultrasound program in the Caribbean. This program is offered through Continuing Education at Michener and includes online didactic courses and hands-on scanning and clinical rotations in the Caribbean. Students from this program can proceed to write the ARDMS exam.
During these years, Michener has partnered with several schools in the Caribbean to enable radiological technologists interested in advancing their skills in ultrasound to do so. Presently, many successful alumni of this program can be found throughout the Caribbean.
Michener seeks opportunities to provide customized health science programs outside of Canada. To date, we have offered programs in:
Bangladesh, India, Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Thailand, and the Caribbean
