About the Course
This course was designed to orient the participant to the MRI safety concepts in the MRI environment. This course explores the basic MRI physics, emergency situations, and safety protocols. In addition, contrast media and the safety concerns related to contrast media will be addressed.
This course is intended for healthcare professionals, including but not limited to reception, medical secretary, clinical staff, MRI aids/porters, and nurses who work in or come in contact with MRI. An understanding of the MRI environment and the importance to safety is essential for all members of the diagnostic imaging team. This understanding will offer skills for staff members to collaborate with other professionals. This course will offer the skill base for the participants to review and assess requisitions related to MRI. The knowledge gained by this course will offer the participant the skill base to assist in the MRI department with pre-screening patients to ensure that a patient is safe for an MRI exam. This course will also offer the skills to identify any MRI safety concern, therefore offering better patient care management.
