Alumni Association Board Update – November 2021

Hello Michener Alumni,

Fall is here with some sense of normalcy compared to where we were last year at this time. We at Michener have been busy, as have our alumni.

Michener has been granted consent to offer a Master of Science degree in Cardiovascular Perfusion making it the only school in Canada to be able to do so. This underscores Michener’s ability to offer in-demand, advanced programs in the applied health professions to constantly improve patient care. Additionally, this new program supports CVP alumni in their continuing education.

Our Alumni Spotlight in this issue focusses on alumni board member Meaghan Stayzer, a recent Radiation Therapy grad entering a health care career in the pandemic. Meaghan was also a student rep on the alumni board. The Board Vice Chair and I both spoke with the Toronto Star for their insert on Emerging Careers and how Michener is at the forefront in that sector.

To support the next batch of alumni, Michener is embarking on a year-end fundraising campaign to enhance Michener student bursaries and we’re hoping for your support. Read within on how you can support Michener students.

If you have a story idea for Alumni News, or comments you would like to share, you can reach us at alumni@michener.ca. Alternatively, you can attend the alumni board AGM which will be held on December 14.

Take care and all the best as we approach the new year!
