May is Asian Heritage Month, and this is an important celebration for Michener.
As we continue our work toward making our space at Michener inclusive, accessible and welcoming, Asian Heritage Month is an opportunity to acknowledge the accomplishments of Michener’s diverse community and help us draw attention to the incredible work that staff, faculty and students of Asian descent are doing on our campus and across healthcare.
Asian Heritage Month in Canada began in the 1990s and is dedicated to celebrating the contributions of Canadians from over 30 countries that make up the Asian community. Over the last two centuries, immigrants have come to Canada from East Asia, Southern Asia, Western and Southeast Asia, bringing heritage, languages, ethnicities and religious traditions.
At Michener, we see these traditions every day and they are part of what makes our community so special.
Throughout the month of May, we will post resources on our Facebook and Twitter feeds about Asian Heritage Month. We hope you’ll follow along!
