The Michener Institute of Education at UHN is committed to providing a safe, positive environment for all students, faculty, staff, patients and visitors. Learning, working and living on a safe campus is everyone’s right, and we all play a role in keeping each other safe.
To raise awareness of campus safety and the realities of on-campus sexual assault, Michener’s Student Success Network has produced a video that brings together students, faculty, staff and security to start a conversation about sexual assault and encourage the community to speak up.
“It’s important to let our community know that we are aware of this issue, and that we understand that we are not immune to it,” says Ray Nielsen, Manager of the Student Success Network.
Unwanted sexual attention is never okay. Michener’s Student Success Network is bringing attention to the realities of on-campus sexual assault and how, as a community, it’s our responsibility to keep Michener’s campus safe.

To accompany the video, SSN has launched michener.ca/campussafety – a page on Michener.ca dedicated to campus safety for the St. Patrick campus. The page features information, policies and resources, including what to do if you have experienced or witnessed sexual assault.
The page outlines Michener’s response protocol to sexual violence, including a process to report and investigate complaints of sexual violence that protects and respects the rights of individuals, and holds individuals who have committed an act of sexual violence accountable. Additionally, the page includes a link to an anonymous reporting form for anyone who has experienced sexual assault, violence or harassment at Michener or during a Michener clinical placement.
Other resources available include information about Coaching and Counselling Services, the WalkSafe program, Michener’s Community Rights and Responsibilities and Security at the St. Patrick campus.
