What program are you in?

I’m in my 2nd-year of Radiological Technology.

What Orientation event are you most looking forward to?

Either laser tag or building-wide scavenger hunt. I am definitely ready to let my inner child go crazy.

What TV show are you binge-watching right now?

Gilmore Girls

What is your best piece of advice for new Michener students?

My best piece of advice is to remember to keep on top of your schoolwork. It can become overwhelming if you fall too far behind. Since, a lot of the information builds on itself. While this is a helpful tip, it is just as important to remember to take breaks so you don’t burn out.

What’s something funny that happened to you recently?

I was attempting to close the pool that I lifeguard at. While I was walking around the pool deck, I was swinging the pool key on my finger. Then, the key suddenly flew off my finger, right into the middle of the deepest section of the pool. The other lifeguard and I tried to use the net to grab it but then the net fell off the pole and now that was also at the bottom. So, the first time I had to actually jump into the pool while working here was to rescue a net and key.

What’s been your most memorable moment at Michener so far?

One of my most memorable moments at Michener so far has been having the chance to interact in person with my classmates during labs, or between classes. After everything moved online, I have really missed socializing with my peers face to face.

Who is your hero and why?

My mum. She has had to overcome a lot of obstacles in her life and still does to this day. Yet, regardless of what is going on in her life, she always put my sisters and my needs ahead of her own. She works hard and does what she can to help me succeed.

Has the pandemic changed your perspective on healthcare at all?

Over the pandemic, my perspective on healthcare has drastically changed. The healthcare workers put their own health at risk and worked hard to help those around them.

What program are you in?

I am in my second year of the Genetics Technology program.

What Orientation event are you most looking forward to?

We have a bunch of exciting events planned for this year, but I’m most excited for laser tag! I believe, running around shooting laser guns in the dark is a great way to bond with new friends.

What TV show are you binge-watching right now?

Uncanny Counter and Bridgerton!

What is your best piece of advice for new Michener students?

Try your best to be on top of your schoolwork, but also take breaks every now and then. You might find yourself being able to study better when you are well-rested. You are already doing great.

What’s something funny that happened to you recently?

I crashed a wedding. One of my classmates got married recently, so I went to her wedding, gave her my gift, took a few photos, and left. She was very amused and happy to see me, haha.

What’s been your most memorable moment at Michener so far?

My program is very small, so we all got to know each other really well. The most memorable moments have been when everyone got together for class and labs. Being with everyone just made everything more fun.

8. Who is your hero and why?

My mom. She’s sacrificed a lot for me and our family. She is one of the bravest, smartest, kindest people I know, and I hope to one day repay her for all the care she has given me and continues to give me all my life.

Has the pandemic changed your perspective on healthcare at all?

The pandemic was what cemented my desire to be a healthcare professional. I admired the medical workers during what was arguably the most trying time for the entire world, and I wanted to fight alongside them on the frontlines.
