About the Course
Working with Older Adults as Community contains modules on ageing in community, communication, mobility and accessibility and recognizing and responding to unique needs of older adults. This course provides an in-depth review of the challenges currently facing the older community, and outlines the ways that we, as community partners, can better support the ageing population.
This course is only available by contract for hospitals/organizations that wish to sponsor their staff. Please email ce@michener.ca to discuss this opportunity.
Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Recognize the social, economic, physiological and environmental factors that impact healthy ageing in Canada
- Select strategies to promote more effective communication and safer physical environments for older adults
- Identify ways relational care can improve relationships and outcomes when working with older adults
- Recognize the unique challenges of older adults living in the community and strategies to mitigate them
- Identify causes, signs and preventative measures of common physical and mental conditions that negatively impact older adultsā quality of life, including medical emergencies
