Dr. Michael O'Leary
Principal and Dr. Daniel C. Andreae Chair in Transformational Healthcare Education
Dr. O’Leary’s career spans nearly two decades in Ontario’s post-secondary sector, and includes senior positions at Humber College, the University of Guelph-Humber and Sheridan College.
A published scholar, Dr. O’Leary holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Master’s degree in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University, and a PhD in Kinesiology focused on the molecular mechanisms of muscle adaptation.
As Michener’s Principal, Dr. O’Leary is committed to driving innovation in health education, strengthening partnerships across the health system and preparing graduates to meet the evolving needs of patients, communities and the healthcare workforce.
Kaylea Bove
Director, Finance
Kaylea brings over 20 years of experience leading finance and operations teams in the non-profit sector to the role of Director of Finance at Michener. Kaylea’s focus is on implementing Michener’s financial strategy to promote transparency, efficiency and sound risk management, and modernizing financial systems and processes to enhance decision-making and strengthen overall operational effectiveness.
A graduate of Queen’s University (BComms), Kaylea is a licensed CPA. After working in audit and tax departments, with a concentration on non-profit clients, she moved to the charitable sector. Kaylea’s operational portfolios include human resources, IT and facilities management.
Fiona Cherryman
Vice Principal, Academic
Fiona is an experienced academic leader in healthcare education with more than 25 years at Michener across faculty and leadership positions. Fiona appreciates working with teams who identify and develop new and ongoing programs to address healthcare staffing needs and provide students the skills to build meaningful careers in care.
With a clinical background as a Registered Radiation Therapist (MRRT) and a Master of Education from the University of Toronto, Fiona values the need for patients to be served by exemplary healthcare professionals and is proud to play a role in developing our future healthcare leaders.
Anna Gordon
Director, People Consultants
Anna provides strategic human resources leadership across UHN’s research and education portfolios, which includes Michener. She leads key initiatives in talent management, project and change management and supports operational excellence while aligning with UHN’s People Strategy to foster engagement, morale and retention.
Anna holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial Relations and Human Resources from the University of Toronto and served as senior human resources officer in the Vice President of Research’s Innovation Office at York University. Anna has helped advance the integration of Michener into the broader UHN landscape, enhancing collaboration and alignment across People & Culture initiatives.
Dr. Brian Hodges
Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, University Health Network
Brian is a practicing psychiatrist, teacher and healthcare leader who has led education at UHN for more than two decades — a portfolio which has included The Michener Institute of Education at UHN since 2016. Brian has a psychology degree and MD from Queen’s University and a Master’s and PhD in Education from the University of Toronto. He is a professor in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, a Senior Fellow at Massey College, University of Toronto, and Past President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Donna Kline
Executive Director, Strategy and Communications
Donna supports strategic priorities and growth initiatives at Michener and leads the communications and marketing department.
A seasoned healthcare leader with over 25 years of experience in large, complex organizations across Ontario’s health system, Donna has held executive and senior roles in strategy, communications and stakeholder engagement across hospitals, provincial agencies and Ministry of Health funded projects.
Donna served as Ontario Health’s first Chief Communications and Engagement Officer, leading communications and stakeholder strategies across the provincial health system. With a Master of Public Administration and Policy, Donna’s unique skillset blends health system expertise with strategy, policy, issues management and marketing.
Ray Nielsen
Vice Principal, Students
Ray has spent over 25 years championing student success at Michener. He began his career at Michener in Residence Life and has progressed through a series of student-focused leadership roles that reflect his enduring commitment to student growth, wellness and community.
Ray is a dedicated advocate for enhancing the student experience. His work centres on creating environments where learners can thrive academically, personally and professionally.
Ray completed his undergraduate studies in biology and chemistry at Trent University and holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh. He remained deeply committed to improving the lives of Michener students and strengthening student supports.
Sherry Yuan Hunter
Director of Continuing Education
Sherry brings a wealth of experience, with over two decades spent working in post-secondary education in Ontario. She has assumed leadership roles at Toronto Metropolitan University and the University of Toronto, including senior positions at the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, Rotman School of Management, U of T’s School of Continuing Studies and UTM’s Registrar’s Office.
Sherry holds a Master of Education from the University of Leeds and has an extensive background in strategic and operational development, revenue generation, program development and integrating equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility into program delivery.
Academic Chairs
Academic Chair, Medical Laboratory Sciences
Rosetta Belcastro is Academic Chair for Medical Laboratory Sciences at The Michener Institute of Education at UHN, leading programs in Diagnostic Cytology, Genetics Technology, and Medical Laboratory Science. With over 30 years of experience in healthcare, she has held senior leadership roles within the University Health Network’s Laboratory Medicine Program, including Senior Manager of Clinical Operations, Administrative and Research Services for Pathology.
Rosetta has co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and brings extensive expertise in research, operations, and academic leadership. She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resources from the University of Toronto, a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School, and is currently pursuing a PhD at York University.
Academic Chair, Foot Care Programs
Megan Brittain is Academic Chair for Foot Care Programs and Head of the Centre for Community Health Education at The Michener Institute of Education at UHN. A registered chiropodist, she holds a Master’s degree in Wound Healing from Western University.
With over 15 years of experience in education, Megan has taught in the Chiropody program as a Professor and now provides academic leadership across foot care education. She continues to practice in the Michener Chiropody Clinic and has worked in both private practice and the UK National Health Service, bringing a diverse perspective to foot health, wound care, and community health.
Academic Chair, MRI and Digital Health and Data Analytics
Ghada Faddoul is Academic Chair for the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Digital Health and Data Analytics programs at The Michener Institute of Education at UHN. A Medical Radiation Imaging Technologist, she brings extensive clinical experience in MRI to her leadership in health education.
She leads program development, accreditation, and quality improvement initiatives, with a focus on collaboration, innovation, and system impact. Ghada holds a Master’s degree in Health Science Education from McMaster University and transitioned into academia to advance MRI education during a period of transformation. She contributes to CAMRT’s Education Council, MRI exam development, and Accreditation Canada.
Academic Chair, Critical Care
Hasina Kanji-Jaffer is Academic Chair for Critical Care at The Michener Institute of Education at UHN, providing leadership across Anesthesia Assistants, Cardiovascular Perfusion, Respiratory Therapy, and Ultrasound programs. With over 15 years of experience in clinical care, professional practice, and higher education, she is recognized for advancing interprofessional education, quality improvement, and curriculum innovation.
A Registered Respiratory Therapist, Hasina continues to practice clinically and has held leadership roles in academic health sciences centres, leading system transformation and program development initiatives. She is currently completing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and holds a Master of Science in Community Health and Health Professions Education.
Academic Chair, Radiological Technology, Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Technology, and Radiation Therapy
Catherine Ladhani is Academic Chair for Radiological Technology, Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Technology, and Radiation Therapy at The Michener Institute of Education at UHN. She provides academic leadership, ensuring program excellence and alignment with accreditation and professional standards.
A registered Medical Radiation Technologist — Radiography (MRT(R)) with over 30 years of experience, Catherine has held progressive leadership roles in healthcare, with a focus on process improvement, change management, and quality improvement. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Physiology from McGill University, a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Imaging from Charles Sturt University, and a Master of Business Administration from Athabasca University.
