Find the Financial Support You Need
Post-secondary education is a major financial undertaking that can be overwhelming. That is why there are a number of financial assistance programs available to Michener students to help reduce barriers as they pursue a future in healthcare. Learn more about the opportunities to receive financial aid at Michener.

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is a financial aid program that can help Ontario* residents who are Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents or Protected Persons pay for their Advanced Diploma program at The Michener Institute of Education at UHN.
*Students who are residents of other Canadian Provinces must apply through their home province.
NOTE: Students in the Joint University of Toronto Medical Radiation Sciences (MRS) program must apply for OSAP at the University of Toronto.
Every year, Michener offers scholarships and named bursary awards to students. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, general and discipline-specific scholarships and awards have been established to provide Michener’s full-time programs with financial aid.
Most of the available awards are granted to students who have submitted a successful application that was selected by a committee of Michener staff and faculty. However, there are specific awards granted through nominations from Michener faculty, clinical coordinators or academic chairs.

Students who find themselves in personal financial difficulty through unforeseen circumstances, and who have exhausted all other avenues of possible revenue, should contact Michener’s Financial Aid Officer to discuss emergency loans.
To be considered for an emergency loan, students will be required to complete and return a formal application, and, if successful, sign a legally binding repayment agreement.
Students who receive an emergency loan and do not receive an anticipated government award, or have all or part of the loan reclaimed by the government, are still responsible for repayment of emergency loans to The Michener Institute of Education at UHN.
Students who fail to repay their loans as agreed to in the loan contract, and who have not made alternative arrangements with the Financial Aid Officer, will be found in default and will be sent a letter containing the details of the outstanding debt, the procedure for repayment and consequences of non-payment.
The National Student Loan Service Centre (NSLSC) is available with helpful information regarding the repayment of student loans. For more information, please visit the NSLSC website.
The following are alternative funding sources external to Michener and are not administered by Michener. Make sure to review the repayment terms of any funding source very carefully and understand the terms and conditions.
Throughout the school year and during the summer, Michener will offer casual employment opportunities to its students. Please email success@michener.ca to add your resume to our job bank.
