English Language Assessment Options
Internationally-educated applicants will be required to take one (1) English Language Assessment demonstrating English skills at the post-secondary level. Test results are only valid for two (2) years.

Note: An English Language Assessment is not required for applicants who:
- Were educated in countries that are English-language dominant (listed below); or
- Have completed two (2) or more consecutive years of full-time post-secondary study in a Canadian university or college; or
- Are a Canadian licensed or registered healthcare professional
Do you Require an English Language Assessment?
You require an English language test assessment if English or French is NOT your first language, and you have NOT completed two (2) years of full-time education at a post-secondary institution in a country that is English-language dominant.

** Students will only be exempt from providing proof of English language facility from schools in these countries if the language of instruction of the school in question was English.
Accepted Testing Services and Scores Required
- If English or French is NOT your first language, and you have completed two (2) years of full-time education at a post-secondary educational facility in a country where the dominant language is English, you are NOT required to complete an English language assessment. Proof of attendance at one of these post-secondary institutions must be provided along with your transcripts as part of the admission documentation.
- If French is your first language, and you have studied for four (4) years or more, full-time, showing satisfactory academic progress in the Canadian school system, you are NOT required to present English language testing papers. You must include ENG4U/Grade 12-University Prep English/anglais with your transcript as part of your admission documentation
- If your first language is English and the country where your total education took place is Canada — or recognized by Michener as English-language-dominant — you are NOT required to present proof of English language assessment. You must include ENG4U/Grade 12-University Prep English/anglais with your transcript as part of your admission documentation.
- If you are a registered/licensed Health Care Provider in Canada, you are exempt from providing an English Language Assessment. NOTE: This does not apply for applicants to Michener’s Bridging Programs.
