A key strategic priority for Michener is increased enrolment and growth of academic programming as it continues to respond and support the health human resource needs of the Ontario and Canadian health care system. The mandate of the Academic Program Approval Committee (APAC) is to ensure that new academic programming aligns with Michener’s strategic goals, operates at a quality level commensurate with Michener’s standards and reputation and is financially sustainable and/or advisable.

The Academic Program Approval Committee (APAC) reports to the Executive Committee (EC) and its primary functions are:

  1. Approve all new programs proposed at Michener regardless of the length of the program (e.g. full-time or short course), source of funding (e.g. government funds or outside entrepreneurial revenue), or credential offered (e.g. advanced diploma, micro-credential or certificate of completion)
  2. Determine the person accountable for the program and the process by which the progress of the program will be monitored and assessed

Members:

  • Associate Vice-Principal, Academic (Chair)
  • Vice-Principal, Academic and Operations (Vice-Chair)
  • Principal
  • Strategic Advisor, Academic Business Development
  • Director, Finance

Guests are invited to attend as required and by invitation to inform APAC discussions and decisions.

Members bring time, talent, special skills and perspectives to the APAC.   Members are expected to:

  • Prepare in advance for meetings by pre-reading material to be discussed
  • Actively participate, advise, and make decisions or recommendations supporting the mandate of the APAC

*In the absence of consensus, decisions and approvals are the responsibility of the Chair and Vice-Chair

APAC approves all new programs proposed at Michener and determines the person accountable for the program and the process by which the progress of the program will be monitored and assessed.
