Purpose
The purpose of the course outline procedure is to provide students and faculty a framework for common understanding regarding the structures, procedures, objectives and requirements that pertain to Michener courses outlines.
Process

Michener’s Course Management Policy states that course outlines will be available to students 30 days prior to the first day of class.

Curriculum QA Process (CLIS)

Faculty revise working copy of course outline and notify CLIS when ready.

CLIS completes QA (in consultation with faculty if needed):

Competency framework analysis

Assessment framework analysis within course

Full content review

Review of PATs (directions, scoring guides, scoring standards, rating scales)

Font type and size clean-up

Faculty review QA’d outline and address recommended changes.

CLIS completes final review and sends email to Program AA to complete Formatting QA.
Formatting QA Process (Program AA)

Faculty revise course outline and notify Program AA when ready.

Program AA completes Formatting QA, including:

Updating program outcomes
-
Program-specific needs
-
Ensuring all required components are present (checklist)
-
Details for Working with Seniors and Health Quality modules (with CE support)
-
Font type and size clean-up
-

Notify CLIS if components are missing.

Program AA locks (password protects) the Word version once finalized.
Approval & Posting
-
Program AA sends outline for Chair approval and official signature.
-
If further changes are needed, Chair coordinates with faculty, CLIS, or Program AA.

Chair confirms approval and notifies Program AA.

Program AA completes final steps:

PDF the final approved course outline.
-
Encrypt PDF to restrict editing.
-
Save unlocked Word version with new dates for the next academic year.
-
Post approved PDFs to appropriate platforms (MyMichener/Blackboard).
-
Email faculty indicating:
-
Current year’s outlines are approved and available.
-
Next year’s working copies are available for editing.
