Educating the Front Lines of Healthcare
Since 1958, The Michener Institute of Education at UHN has prepared generations of health professionals who are both behind the scenes and on the front lines of care — delivering life-saving expertise in some of the most critical and specialized areas of the health system.
Our Graduates
Michener graduates include:
- Cardiovascular perfusionists who operate the heart-lung machines that keep patients alive during open-heart surgeries
- Respiratory therapists who ventilate premature infants and critically ill patients when their lungs fail
- Chiropodists who help prevent diabetes-related amputations and improve patients’ mobility and quality of life
- Medical laboratory and genetic technologists who play a key role in diagnosing cancers, infections, and other complex diseases
- Radiation therapists who work directly with cancer patients to deliver targeted, life-extending treatment
- Radiological technologists who perform diagnostic imaging procedures to guide accurate diagnosis and treatment
- And many more!
As the only post-secondary institution in Canada exclusively focused on the applied health sciences, Michener attracts some of the most driven, skilled and compassionate students in the country.
Many already hold degrees in related fields and arrive ready to take the next step in a healthcare journey defined by purpose. But even the most committed students can be held back by financial barriers, balancing intense clinical training with the pressures of student debt, family responsibilities, and part-time work.
Support the Next Generation of Health Professionals
When you give to Michener’s Student Bursary Fund, you are helping students stay focused on what matters – becoming the skilled professionals our health care system depends upon. Your entire donation, 100%, will go directly to Michener students, ensuring they can continue their studies, complete their clinical placements and take their place in the workforce. With your support, they’ll be ready to show up — in the ICU, the lab and the operating room — when patients need them the most.
